Hong Kong Island is an island in the southern part of Hong Kong, China. The island was captured by the United Kingdom in the early 1840s, and the City of Victoria was then established on the island. The northern coast of the island forms the southern shore of the Victoria Harbour, which is largely responsible for the development of Hong Kong due to its deep waters favored by large trade ships.

The Hong Kong Island is the most thriving place of the whole of Hong Kong and is also the seat of the Hong Kong Government bodies. On both sides of the streets, there are flourishing commercial towers and shopping centers, offices of the world famous financial bodies, shipping institutions and the headquarters of trade companies, and consulate of various countries and regions. The famous Deep Water Bay and Repulse Bay are all located on the island, which are Hong Kong's main tourist area. Kowloon is one of the centers of industrial and commercial activities. The island is home to many of the most famous sights in Hong Kong, such as "The Peak", Ocean Park, many historical sites and various large shopping centres. The mountain ranges across the island are also famous for hiking. The island is sometimes locally referred to as "the Island side. It has one of the nicest beaches, despite its shark warnings, is definitely Repulse Bay and visitors should definitely go over there for at least a day. Hong KongIsland is a busy commercial centre with its high skyscrapers, offering: shops, bars, Hong Kong island restaurants, and, for those who love the history way, a handful of culture traits namely a few museums and some sights.

Hong Kong island hotels are located in Central, Admiralty and Wanchai, areas which are the financial and business districts on Hong Kong Island. While some few other Hong Kong island hotels are located in Causeway Bay and North Point.
